PLC Annual Fund Reaches Goal

The Piscataquog Land Conservancy closed the books on our 2018 financial year on June 30th, and we once again finished with a balanced budget, and set a new record for individual contributions to our annual fund. To all of you who renewed your support of PLC over the last few weeks, THANK YOU! Special thanks to the generous PLC members who, with just ten days to go, made a dollar-for-dollar challenge gift of $2,500. For everybody who answered this challenge with matching gifts, we made the full match and then some!

Help PLC Finish Strong

After a winter that was relentless even by New Hampshire standards, spring came at last, and summer is suddenly just around the corner. The warmth and longer days bring a surge in the Piscataquog Land Conservancy’s land protection work and also signal the homestretch of our financial year. We hope you will renew your commitment to local conservation by making a gift to PLC’s annual conservation fund by the close of our fiscal year on June 30th.

Proctor Fundraising Complete!

with No Comments

PLC has reached our $300,000 fundraising goal for the Proctor land conservation project, which will protect two critical properties totaling 112 acres in Lyndeborough. The final dollars raised in late April will help us wrap up the second of two land purchases, and create a modest fund for stewardship projects like trails, stream restoration, signage, etc. To everybody who answered the call, THANK YOU!

Remembering Arthur Walmsley

Arthur Walmsley, a leader of the Episcopal Church and longtime member of the PLC family, died this past October at the age of eighty-nine.  Bishop Walmsley was for a generation a towering figure not only in his own denomination but in the ecumenical community – a leader in civil rights, in global reconciliation, in the empowerment of women and gay people.

A Busy Close to 2017

In a flurry of December project closings, PLC added three more properties to our growing network of conservation lands. The projects included a conservation easement to PLC from the Francestown Land Trust (FLT) on a small but strategic parcel in Francestown, phase two of our joint conservation project along the Nissitissit River in Brookline and a 41-acre property in Lyndeborough from the Proctor Trust.

Timber Harvest Begins at Tuthill

The long-planned timber harvest at our Tuthill Woodlands Preserve in New Boston gets under way this month.  The 195-acre preserve is among PLC’s largest land ownerships, and is one of the best suited to forest management.  The work should take 4-6 week (cold) weather permitting.
