The vernal pools walk is full and is now closed to new registrations. It was a special PLC event and the registrations filled up quickly. Keep watching for other great events!


Join the New Boston Air Force Station’s Natural Resources Planner Stephen Najjar for an early evening walk to visit vernal pools on the installation. The walk is limited to 15 people, and pre-registration is required. All adult participants must have a photo ID to enter NBAFS. Please be sure to dress appropriately, and be prepared for early black flies and ticks.

Brookline Rail Trail Walk

Join PLC and the Brookline Conservation Commission for an easy, family-friendly walk on the Nissitissit River Rail Trail.  The town and PLC jointly protected several sections of the trail in 2017.

Spring Wildflowers Walk

The wildflower walk is full and is now closed to new registrations. It is a very popular and fun event. We hope to offer the event again next spring!

 

Join PLC Board member and wildflower expert Gary Samuels for a flower-ID walk through a floodplain forest along the Piscataquog River in Goffstown.

Wildlife tracking

Just when we were convinced there would be no snow left in the woods for our March 10th wildlife tracking walk, we’re getting a foot plus tonight! So, unless all that snow melts really fast, we’ll look for animal tracks and enjoy time outside in the beautiful winter woods this Saturday morning at PLC’s Porritt easement in Goffstown. The walk will be led by trained tracker and all-around super woods woman Barbara Thomson.

Winter Hike on Rose Mountain

The last in our trio of mid-winter snowshoe hikes is this Sunday February 4th on PLC’s Rose Mountain Preserve in Lyndeborough. The hike will be co-led by PLC Board member Mike Boyko and Executive Director Chris Wells. If you’ve never visited the summit of Rose Mountain it’s worth the trip!

Timber Harvest Tour

Join the PLC and our forester for a guided tour of the Tuthill timber harvest. 

If you ever wanted to learn more about what foresters and loggers do, and how conserving land and cutting wood can co-exist, here’s your chance — join us next Saturday February 10th for a guided tour of the timber harvest currently under way on PLC’s Tuthill Woodlands Preserve in New Boston. The walk will be led by foresters Jeremy Turner of Meadowsend Timberlands, who is overseeing the harvest, and Ethan Belair of UNH Cooperative Extension.
